When do I install new BIOS for my X470

So I ordered a 5600X to upgrade my 2700X and it is to be delivered on the 29th. The latest driver for my Asus Prime X470-Pro is version 5809 which supports the new Zen3, but I’ve heard that once you install it Zen1 will no longer work.

I’m unsure of how true this is but I’m not willing to take the gamble to find out, so in what order do I install the new chip and bios?

If I install the new chip without updating the BIOS will I even be able to boot to the BIOS to flash it? Or do I just update the BIOS then turn my PC off straight away and install new chip? Never had to do something like this before lol

It actually says the new bios will Remove AMD 7th Gen A-series/ Athlon X4 Processors support"

The 2600x is second gen ryzen cpu.

Your CPU is Zen+ though, not Zen 1.

As Tetras says, the 2600 is not 1st gen, it's 2nd gen. So this should not affect you.

According to MC Extractor the 5809 bios supports Zen1 (#3) as well as Zen+ (#1)

On the asus bios download page, theres a description for each BIOS. The description for bios version 5809 reads

" 1.New CPU support 2.Offer a Re-size BAR Support option to enhance GPU performance. 3. Remove AMD 7th Gen A-series/ Athlon X4 Processors support"

So your 2700x should still work because its not mentioned in point 3.
