Quick question if I may,

When is it okay for a company to charge your credit card for an internet purchase?

Is it okay to charge at the point of order, even if the company has no stock and doesn't supply a delivery date/ or even an estimate?

Or should it not be charged to you until the items are available to ship to you?

Does this mean that I own an item, which I have legitimately paid for that I do not have possession of?

Can I charge a rental charge to the company for keeping my equipment without my authority?

Any thoughts?

When I ordered from a web site a couple of weeks ago ( a compeitor ) one of the parts was Out Of Stock, didnt stop the gits from taking my money the next day though!! A week later It was dispatched. Everything went nice and smoothly, but it was very annoying if I wanted to change my order

I think it depends on the T&C of the site.

I know one very large chain of stores who charge the moment the order is made, even if you're placing a pre-order for something that might not be out for another couple of months.

Personally as long as it's mentioned in the T&C/order page i'm not generally too worried about it if it's a reputable site (especially as I use a CC for all online purchases - never use a debit card for anything online, or that you don't walk out of the shop with).

In one respect i find that kind of thing annoying however the other side of the coin what if the stock came in they went to charge you and you had spent you limit on something else due to forgeting to leave monies in the account so you'd be disapointed and the shop annoyed

I can see the logic, but to be honest I'm miffed that I could be paying interest on my credit card balance from the date I ordered, and my order isn't close to even being prepped for delivery.

I assume that my credit card company has released funds to the store, yet they haven't actually done anything, or supplied anything.
