Seen various threads here and there talking about 7 series for ATi and I've no clue about nvidia.

Are there new cards coming out soon, is it an alright (there's never a great time :p) to buy a card?

What's the expected jump? Is it refresh sort of level or 8 series sort of leap suspected?

For AMD current rumours suggest the low-mid end cards will be out possibly next month or so, before the next year comes. The high ends are rumoured to be released in H2 2012 using a new architecture.

For Nvidia Kepler it sounds like they plan to release this line in H2 2012.

Both will be on a 28nm and from the sounds of both sides it will be more than a refresh.
