So id like to get one with a 8800 gfx card - would be super dooper sweet

The thing is I know they will eventually come out for laptops, but im on a time limit ya see - i want one before i join the navy which will be in about 6-8 months time....ish.

Anyone help me out? :D

Dell currently offers two 8700m gt's in sli but the machine and power supply was built for the 8800m's. When they hit 'retail' dell will offer an upgrade program to all xps m1730 users to change the 8700's for 8800's for a price. There has been no hints on the price though.

think it was called communication technician, Though im in final year of my degree now so if i get a 2.1 or 1.1 ill look into officer rank, was advised to go RAF if I could be officer though.
Cant see me getting a half decent classification on degree though, im completely distanced from it, its BORING.

Should be here in 2 weeks:)

Screw Dell and there over price laptops. What made me laugh was they force you to have SLI 8700m GT which don't have work in Vista lol which they also force you to buy.Plus the fact they supply you with 32bit version of Vista instead of x64 is a big joke aswell:mad:

dell ask you if you want vista or XP FYI, and its easy enough to barter them down etc, i blagged aload of upgrades for 20p extra last week on my vostro :) Cant wait for it to arrive.

Can i just ask, why do u need so much GPU power? =/ Are you taking a paycut to go in navy or something? $3.2k ... JESUS

After a desktop replacement...
Selling my desktop soon since I need something mobile and powerful, go 7950GTX is slightly better than a desktop 7950GT on paper so since it's a 1920/1200 screen I thought I'd better go for SLI go 7950GTX:p

3,200.00 USD

=

1,559.90 GBP

₤1.799 just for a default Dell M1730 btw:eek:

its easy to haggle them right down man.

Yea but what did you use desktop as? Surely you could just get an 8600GT laptop and a lower res screen and go on hols instead? :p

Haggling with Dell isn't going to get me a E6850 3.0Ghz is it:p
Plus I'm sure this laptop will heat my house nicely this winter;)That should save me some pennies:D

Well, those sager laptops look the absolute shiznips!

The price and specification of them seem brilliant! Why have they put a desktop cpu in it though? I know its better then having a laptop cpu - but why arnt all laptop makers doing that?

Also what happens if it goes wrong and has to be taken back? Long and expensive way to America....

Quite tempted by one of these though!! :D

don't have work in vista lol?

Of course they work in vista in sli, in fact they very recently did an official driver update that has massive performance gains. Not that it is hard to mod standard drivers for any gpu.
Not to mention the upgrade to dual 8800's witch is coming very soon.
XPS support is fantastic, understandable English speaking Americans or Europeans.
Last but not least :p They supply x86 vista as it doesn't have driver signing problems like x64 that can confuse some owners. I have full working copies of ultimate x64 and x86 anyway :p

Just had a look at the d900, it must be about as thick as a shoebox  and 3 hard drives? this is madness?!?! :D

I paid £1850 for my m1730, the same spec on their site will set you back £2250 right now, it's easy to get them for less with a small bit of nagging.

I have a Dell XPS M170 so I will compare thickness when it arrives:)

i dont get why half of you dont just get a £800-£900 laptop, and then a £800-£900 desktop, and the rest on a lovely big HDTV :)
Oh well, each to their own!
