Whenever I use my air conditioning it smells like ass

Bacteria in the system.

Go to Halfords and buy a can of their AC Cleaner.

Put AC on full cold with re-circ
Shake can and activate - Put it somewhere near the hand brake.
Leave it running for a good 5 minutes after the can had finished spraying
Profit

The car will have a chemical smell for a couple of days but that will go.
 
TBH with manual air con cars i have always found that simply running it for ages clears the smells out if it has not been used in a while.
 
What filter can you change for air con?
As stated above its bacteria.
Get some AC cleaner it needs to be placed by where the recirc air is sucked in.
My old golf gti was terrible used some stuff from work and within a couple of days all was good..

Yes this is the cabin filter and all modern cars have them however if this was the cause then you'd get the smell all the time ie when using the blowers not just the aircon.
 
it's called a pollen filter, and yes most modern car have it.
if that doesn't work then get one of those cans of spray to kill the bacteria in the system which is causing the smell.

there are 2 types, one that you put somehwere inside and let the aircon off, or the one a spray with a small hose that should go into all the air blowers inside the car.
you'll find detailed instructions of use on the cans.
