Haven't been boarding in years and heading out to France in Jan. Been browsing online, Burton, The North Face etc but not really found anything I like. Wondering if there's any retail web sites worth going to? (already checked Snow&Rock!).

Got some bargains on eBay, North Face gear still with tags. That and some from a sale rack.

Full price is pretty mental for tehnical gear, especially if you're only using it once a year. Got my NF shell for 100 quid ish (600+RRP), and NF trousers for 40 quid.

Also picked up some Patagonia gear from their website sale recently for climbing. Not mega cheap but good for the quality.

Ellis Brigham is probably the best chain in the UK for ski gear IMO. Could also try Cotswold Outdoor, although that’s more hiking stuff.

Both have decent websites with lots of options.

that's interesting had not considered their website - patagonia seems less stocked now in uk stores.
... 20 years old capilene still going strong. ... usually handwash most gear though

generally Brexit / exchange rate must be hurting prices ... Does anyone manufactures in UK ...(Mountain equipment ? has been good for me)

Generally just find a product you like and then do a Google search for the cheapest price you want to pay, there are loads of shops online that are independant and offer good service.

For online I check mainly:
Absolute Snow
eBay
Sportpursuit

I also Google and find deals with other online stores which may have sales once I've decided on a product (such as exact bindings or board):
SnowTart
Surfdome
Subvert Board Store
Freeze Pro Shop
S2AS
Snow Trax
Boardwise
Decathlon

Some Euro stores might be cheaper depending on price:
Hawaii Surf (French, has English version)
Glisshop
Fresh Farm
Blue Tomato

To go into store and try (not necessarily buy), these guys are usually the most expensive:
Snowboard Asylum
Ellis Brigham
Snow+Rock

Snowboard Asylum for snowboarding gear.

Never understood why Ellis Brigham’s Snowboard stuff is under a different “brand” even though they are in Ellis Brigham shops and the stuff is sold on the same website. Are there some separate shops around or did they used to be separate entities?
