just browsing the shop and noticed that half of the 7800 section has gone...

including the OcUK 7800GT :( was planning on getting a second 7800GT in the future... bummer...

is this because most people tend to be buying 7900GT's these days?

As far as I know all 7800s have stopped being made.

EDIT: Bar the GS serious possibly..

Sort of makes you wonder why they even bothered with SLI. I mean, part of the apeal was that you could add a second card at a later date.

Yup 7800's were ceased when the 7900's came out. :)
bit ridiculous really, as said above... why bother with the whole "Buy a new graphics card today, and in the future add a second for the added power of SLi!" when they stop making them as soon as a new range is made :-/

looks like i'll have to look on the MM or fleabay when the time comes :(

If you want a 2nd 7800GT why not buy one 2nd hand

Surely you didn't expect nVidia to keep making 7800's when the 7900's are released, that would be stupid for them.

The 7900 are a smaller die size so they are cheaper to produce as they get more cores per wafer so it makes perfect sense for them to stop the 7800's

looks like the second hand value of my 7800gt will have shot up a bit, maybe time to flog it to fund my 7900 upgrade!
