Where to start - taking off private plate

I need to have my private plate removed and go back to the original. Seems a stumbling block in the sale process of the scoob.

Can anyone tell me where to start and how long it will take - I can travel to Swansea to speed up the process.

You will need to complete a V778/1 - Retention of a Vehicle Registration Number application form. The cost to retain a registration number is £105.

When I took the plate off my old car (not a proper private one, just the plate I'd had since i was 17) i had to go to my local dvla office to show my mot/v5/insurance, so i think you may well have to do that.
