Where will the next big multi billion $ internet phenomenon emerge from?

I think if you made an AI that can understand the news and current events you'll have much easier money making opportunities.

But then again the AI might be **** at predicting human behaviour and fail miserably on the stock market.

Program that picks up mental amounts of information available on the internet to predict stock price movements and buys/sells immediately, quicker than the capabilities of humans. So it uses AI to understand the ramifications of a news story (out of thousands it 'reads' per hour) stating that some chief executive is leaving Tescos ... and buys (or sells) within a tenth of a second of the story breaking .. then the humans come along and do their thing - the stock moves accordingly, and the PC 'cleans up' ...

That could make someone a few billion.

I thought there was already programs that did that. I dont think they use that amount of information, because they dont really need to.

Be interesting to see what games can do with hardware acceleration in the browser. Could a facebook game challenge world of warcraft?

Well Zynga are making a shed load of money out of facebook at the moment, and google pumped $100 million into them so they arent doing too bad. Not bad for a company that hasnt had 1 original idea

Already done, its called flash trading and it uses supercomputers to buy sell and own shares for 5 seconds or less in the billions.
It forms the majority of all trading done on a stockmarket, the average share is owned for 16 seconds

Something similar is IBMs latest machine, google Watson jeopardy

Thanks silversurfer, I knew I was right.

They've had to make some rules with it as well because they can mess up the stock market.
