Wheres the 8.x drivers for ati cards since new ati cards out now?

Theres a partial driver i think for the new cards but wheres the 8.x drivers for my x1950pro?

They are not out for the X1950, or any other ATI product other than the HD 2900. Considering the cards are totally different it's not surprising really. In future I'd expect there will either separate driver packages for each product, or they will combine it in one which will result in a bigger download.

What makes you think they would release new drivers for other cards at the same time anyway  greedy :p

Well erm their unified drivers aint they like nvidia, as in one driver for all kinda thing. I mean the cats 7.4 do all x1xxx range, xXXX range i think and others so its not unusual to think the x2900 cards drivers should work for x1950pro etc as well.

Afraid not Skeeter, but it's very simple to find them on the Ati site, guess it also saves a lot of space as you don't need to download large files

also means for now they can avoid the huge issues that nv had with regards to their driver not performing well on certain cards due to having to accomodate other cards with different architecture

Im sure they will be integrated into the main pack at some point.

the cats that we use now (7.4) are 8.36 so we havent been denied the 8 series ;)

Yeah the 8.37.4.3 driver is up on the ATi site, its specifically for the x2900's though, but personally i wouldn't bother with them if you have just got an x2900, as if you look at this chart that was posted by Tom|Nbk :-

You can see that these 8.37.4.3 drivers are rubbish, the 8.37.4.2's are the best for the x2900's, and the new x2900 drivers are due out on the 23rd which is only about 8 days away, not sure if they will specifically be a set for the x2900's though or if they will be the official Cat 7.5's, as they are due now as well. :)

12fps in serious sam 2 for a x1950 xtx? Seems crap fps for that old game which i thought wasnt that demanding.

Yeah, that's bull, I got like 60 on an Nvidia 6200TD with like 128mb ram, something like the 1950XTX would get immense FPS, not 12!

serious sam 2 is bugged at least on ati cards. can be running round at super smooth fps at 4xaa 1680x1050 then all of a sudden for no apparant reason the game will drop to around 5-10. A real pain when it happens furring heavy fight ;) Then later it mught jump back to fullspeed.

its not map/area dependant either as you can go to where it was super speed and it may still be slow. or vice versa.

so that 12 fps could have happened when game was being stupid .

It could have, until you realise that according to that a 8800GTS runs Serious Sam 2 at 1280x1024 at 18fps?! I mean what the hell lol.

I don't think Serious Sam 2 is more demanding than Oblivion ;)
