Which 20" or 22" is best at non native resolutions

I was going to order a new 19" inch today, but I am now seriously considering a 20" or 22" screen. Which of these screens would be best at displaying a lower non native resolution or supports 1:1 pixel mapping? This is important to me as with my current rig I am having to play newer games at 1280x1024 (on my CRT) and this will always happen in the future with more demanding games. I buy monitors to last me 3 to 5 years and I cannot keep upgrading my PC to support the native resolution.

Samsung SM-206BW 20" - £211.49 - specs look great and have heard great things about Samsungs
Dell E207WFP 20" - £205.61 - it's a Dell :)
Belinea 2230S1W Pro 22" - £217.36 - not so sure as I have seen 1 less than favourable mag review
Asus MW221U 22" - £234.99 - do not know anything about but contrast may be a bit low
Samsung SM-226BW 22" - £258.49 - as above

Just to add as far as size goes I am more interested in quality and not quantity. Contrast ratios are essential as I have to see where I am going in LOTRO when it's night time. Also the less I spend the better as I was previously only planning on spending a £120 for a 19"

Hmm, i don't think any of those are capable of 1:1 pixel mapping. Don't quote me on this, though.

The Dell 2007WFP can utilise 1:1 pixel mapping, although it's a little expensive.

I spoke to one of the sales guys and he appeared to know the ins and outs of these displays so I have ended up buying the Samsung SM-206BW 20" which according to him is the best at displaying non native resolution. Anyway I will see tomorrow and I hope I do not regret not getting a 22" for a few quid more.

Since ordering I have also read on some other forum about problems with these displays, as they are not all the same. The S variant is the better than the A variant and OC cannot say which one they are sending me.

Sure it'll do a fine job saguy. :)

If you do have problems with it then i can confirm that the 360 through my Belinea works well and that's with it running 720p.

Not seen any other similar monitors running non standard res's apart from my mates 30" dell.

Now you tell me! I was seriously interested in the 22" Belinea but according to the sales guy 20"sm would be better at non native resolutions. I would have appreciated the extra 2" because looking at my 20" which has just arrived it does look sort of small'ish.

You do get the advantage of a smaller pixel pitch, theoretically sharper image, and less jaggies, though. That's why i'm getting a 20" over a 22".
