Hi guys,

Ive just replaced my old Samsung UE55ES8000U with an LG 55B6V 4k OLED tv and im after some suggestions for a media centre.

With my old TV i have a 2012 Mac Mini with Kodi to stream content from my server, this works perfectly, but, unfortunately the 2012 MacMini isnt able to output 4k 10bit HDR content... Im looking to replace it with something that can hopefully do the same job but better, so far ive looked at the Intel Skull Canyon NUC and the nVidia Shield TV... Am I missing an obvious choice.

90% of my content is 1080p h265 and ive only got a hand ful of 4k demos at the moment.

Thanks for any help, Darryn.

To be fair I wouldnt invest any real money until there is a vable way to rip 4k sources

AVForums also keep on testing different variants of media centre so keep an eye on there

From what I've read about it & if you think its worth the money, the Xbox One S looks pretty good. No idea if it will stream your own content though (I doubt it knowing Microsoft)

If you want 4k content UHD Blu Ray is the way to go at the moment, and an xbox one s is about the most affordable way to jump onboard.

I wasnt aware there is a Kodi app in the LG store, ill go and look for that thanks. :)

I did see the Plex one, but last time i tried that it wasnt a patch on Kodi(XMBC)
Ill go and setup a test Plex server on my media storage server and see how I get on.

I will be getting an XboxOneS for UHD BluRays.

Sorry I might be wrong about Kodi being available or not, but Plex definitely is as you found out. I intend to go the Plex route myself when I buy my first TV.
