which 775 motherboard for q6600

Guys i removed the power cable out of the back and then plugged it back in. The time and date were still correct so surely this means that the battery is ok and not the problem?

I would still try a new battery, only going to cost you about £3. It really does sound like the battery is dead. What if any messages do you get on a cold boot?

And have you checked the CMOS reset button is sitting 100% in the correct place on the rear of the board? Worth checking.

The computer doesn't boot at all unless i flash cmos. The fans and lights are on but nothing on the screen. I will try a new battery just not had a chance to go to a shop yet. The cmos button is in the right position.

Basically I had problems before with it and somehow fixed it. Formatted recently and noticed that my cpu was back to stock values. Attempted to overclock it and then it has been giving me non stop grief. Definitely motherboard related because it works when i flash the cmos. I will check the battery idea and get back to you

For my Q6600 i had the Gigabyte DS3R, it was a bloody good board, got right up to 3.8GHz on it.

You should be able to get one right and cheap now too, i sold mine for £40

Just ordered a B Grade P5Q deluxe (from here of course) which should be here in a day or two. Currently overclocking my Q6600 G0 SLACR from 2.4 to 3.0 on a GA-EP31-DS3L (very easy, very stable and cool) and looking to hit 3.6 with the new board.

Im aware that the Asus board has a few more options in the Bios to tinker with so I'll be asking for a little help if that's alright? I've got a Zerotherm cooler with 120mm fan which keeps my CPU currently 23-40c and 2x 2GB OCZ2N800SR2G. I'll be looking for 9x400 on the CPU and running the RAM at its default speeds.

I see the P5Q also does RAID and I have 2x Samsung F3 1TBs - one for OS and apps, the 2nd for data storage and backups. Wondering whether to use them as RAID 0 and buy another drive for backups. Is it easy to do? Does it require a format and reinstall of the OS?

Any help much appreciated.

How much collective vdrop/vdroop you experienced on that mobo? I have Gigabyte P45 UD3LR and I experience a collective vdrop/vdroop of 0.1v :( which is a lot. So if I set 1.4125v in bios I get the following:

Bios vcore: 1.4125v
Idle Voltage: 1.360v
load voltage: 1.312v

Hey guys i replaced the cmos battery but i still have to cmos flash before my computer will boot up. I forgot to mention before after cmos flash I have to press f1
