Hey guys, just a quick query!

Got my car in for a service today and after last years when he said the brakes were getting near needing being replaced I'm prepared for that today, just not sure what to go for, figured it might be cheaper to order online then get them fitted locally (or wait outside lopez's house with brakes and a few notes :p)

Car is a 54 Civic 1.6 Sport, 32k, any reccomendations on good discs/pads (not sure if it'll end up needing any, or both, but thought it can't hurt to plan ahead) that would be cheap but not bad quality :)

Cheers

I like the Brembo blanks (not grooved or drilled), mine were only £45 (282mm) but I'd probably stick with OEM. How much extra will Honda charge to fit them?

I used to recommend EBC disks until I recently cracked one :/ I'd heard stories of it happening quite frequently, but always ignored it:p

Not actually at Honda for the service, just at a local trustable indy, which is why I was thinking possibly not OEM as the extra fee to buy them from Honda then have them fit them as a seperate job might come in more than buying others.

Reminds me to steer clear of EBC then :p

hardly performance car so i'd just go with OEM if its reasonably priced.

if not, mintex or similar.

Maybe not, but (in my case anyway) the Brembo plain disks were significantly cheaper than Honda. They're better at dissipating heat too.

I stuck with the Honda pad though, I got annoyed with the dust from my last Ferodo pads :/

Any links on a good place where to get the Brembo plains Tim? Just wanna check around but not sure which places are best service/vfm.

Cheers

What EBC discs did you crack? I'm just looking at getting some grooved and dimpled discs as opposed to drilled ones as I have been told that it's the drilled ones that have be known to crack.

NS

You must have been unlucky, or you drive like a tard (or more of a tard than me).

I've been through 3 sets of EBC grooved discs now, no issues.

I do drive it hard, but I have read a few cases of plain EBC discs cracking over at itr-dc2.com

I think Brembo are unbeatable for price/performance.

wow, impressive crack!

you can get brembo plain discs from GSF. cheaper than from VW for me. ive got a set of brembo grooved ones now

Is your car 5 stud? I made the error on my brothers 54 Civic Sport of getting 4 stud. Caused a few headaches. The price of the 5 stud is ridiculous compared to the 4 stud. 4 Stud could be picked up for about £18 each. 5 Stud were about £45 each.

Don't make the same error i did!

Poor Tim, the car noob. I was hoping he'd take my 365mm ceramic discs suggestion onboard :p

OEM isn't too bad but if you're using 'Little Dave' i'd make sure the police aren't looking.

Tim, I would go look, but its at the garage atm, not here :p

Dup, sssh I asked you before I came here, which is why I cam here you useless bint :D
