I was just wondering if it is worth installing chipset drivers or any other drivers apart from ethernet and audio?

also my ram is currently set at 2T is it worth changing that to 1T?

cheers

Why the new thread?

Yes you do need to install the chipset drivers on a motherboard, plus device drivers (sound/gfx/lan/etc).

should i also upgrade my bios to 1.6? and what is the best way to do this? through windows or with a floppy?

should all the motherboard drivers be installed through windows?

is it still necessary to install the chipset drivers even though im not running raid?

I wouldn't upgrade your BIOS unless you have to - if your CPU isn't detected correctly, for example

I'd install all the drivers through windows including your chipset drivers

i do have one problem with the current bios - my ram is showing up as 2cmd (which im guessing is 2T)

i have set the ram to 1T?? i was thinking that the new bios might fix this problem

It is very common for your BIOS to default to 2T timings when you install 2GB of ram

If you cannot successfully change it to 1T then I'd look at upgrading the BIOS, otherwise I'd just keep the shipping BIOS :)

On that mobo I think you need the ram in slots 1 and 3 if you want 1T timings on 2 x 1gb sticks. Check the manual to confirm, but mine was in 2T and I couldnt change it until i moved the sticks round.
