Hi,

There is a lot of discussion about the famous whine from the front of the 650D.

I don't have the time to cut the front mesh out, so what is the best fan to buy to replace the standard one to get rid of the whine?

Thanks

Yes i am very familar with their support forums, as every product i have owned of theirs has had issues (except their ram to be fair).. everything else is pretty poor and very cheaply made...

Anyway, they suggest the Cooler Master Megaflow 200, but i dont want an LED fan... So looking for some advice from someone in the UK on here who has orderd and installed a fan to address this issue and is pleased with the results...

Anyone with NZXT 200mm or a Bitfenix 200 know if this would fix the whine and be compatible with the case?

I'm in the same position. The megaflow is thicker than the stock Corsair and interferes with the drive bays, although I have the drive bay set in the position further back.

Coolermaster do make a non-LED megaflow but I can't find it for sale in the UK. I guess you could just cut off the LED wires though as I'm thinking of doing.

The black 'non-LED' megaflow as far as I know is an OEM part and only comes with certain HAF case's. So there not sold individually. You may however be able to pick one up in the MM or the bay.

Be careful buying NZXT 200mm fans, from what I read about them they have non-standard 200mm mounting holes intended for one of NZXT's cases (phantom I think).

I used BitFenix Scythe 230mm for front and top. My drive bay is in the rear position too. The front fan frame needed minor fettling to fit under the 5 1/4 bays when I tried to fit it with screws - it might not even need that if you use the rubber mounts. I also found that putting some extra rubber washer/grommet things between the fan and the front of the case helped to avoid the dreaded whine. Very happy so far :)

You can buy the LED one and simply disable the LEDs by snipping the legs....so easy.

I have it on my 650D anddisabled 2 LEDs to give a more neutral glow.
