Hi all,
I would greatly appreciate if you could advise me on which graphics card to get as I would like to play more up-to-date games i.e. call of duty 4 etc...

My System specs are:-
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900XT 256mb
MBoard: GA-7VT600 1394 (Bus(es) AGP PCI IMB USB i2c/SMBus)
1gig of RAM (will hope make that 2 asap)

Do you need more information:confused:

Thanks very much in advance!:)

Paul

Thanks for the quick respones, i just got a new 26 TV which has PC input :s lol max res i think i can get is 1360x768.
Budget is around £150 but might go to £200 if worth it.

I imagine the slot on your motherboard is AGP? The trouble is you have a nice budget but a graphics card in this price range will bottleneck under the system you have.

yeah its AGP, will be buying new PC soon enuff but gotta save some money coming up to christmas. This is temporary but iam busting my ass to play some of the newer games lol.
Any ideas?

I'd be inclined to put it towards the new setup mate rather than spending it on a GPU for just a few months worth of usage. Sell the system for £100 - coupled with the £200 for the GPU and you have £300 to add to you're budget ;)

Works out better, you could get a sweet system!

if you are desperate for a video card you will need to upgrade to a PCI-E motherboard on top of your budget.

then look no further than the 8800GT.

bang for bucks it's the best available, with almost GTX performance.

availability is a problem at the moment, however, stock levels are starting to improve. expect to pay around £160-200 if you buy now, however the prices should drop to no more than £150 ish when thay are fully available over the next few weeks, you can then put the other £50 to a new MB.

:s was kinda planning on keeping this one for my brother tho. I would have thought the 8800GT would have been wasted on my system?? :s

how bout around the £100 mark?? any decent cards?? then I can put most to new system.

Thanks very much Lightnix for taking the time to look into that for me, I'll Deffo look at those. just incase have u ne suggestion for just a card?

remember, you are limited to the AGP bus for your video card so your choices are very limited.

almost all latest video cards are PCI-E which will mean a motherboard upgrade.

you can get a decent PCI-E motherboard for less than £50 now.

any money you spend now on an AGP card is really a waste.

Ok thanks for the help, mite as well just save for new system. lol budget will b bout 800-1000. So if you have ne suggestions lol
peace out
