Right guys i need some help choosing some speakers for my amp. I have a Cambridge Audio Azur 540v2.

What im looking at is

Wharfdale 9.1
Mourdant Short 902i
Tannoy F1 Custom

my budget is about £120

what do you think?

I'm about to order some bits and I think I'm going to get the Tannoy F1 Custom, purely on the great reviews that can be found all over the net for them.

I'd be interested to hear other peoples opinions though. They'll be used with a Cambridge Audio A1.

You can't just listen to internet reviews, every pair of speakers has a different sound signature which can also change a lot when paired with different amps. Then you have to factor in that a review is just one persons opinion and not fact ;)

Try and demo if you can so you can actually let your ears decide what they like best, if not then just buy blind then never demo anything again. I'm guilty of this with my current setup but from the other systems I have heard, nothing comes close. Luck and research on my part.

As Tank said, check ebay out. It isn't the bargain factory it used to be, but it's still pretty good. Also look out on the avforums classifieds and hififorsale.

I had a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9.1s (which were better than the Kef iQ1s I replaced them with) a year or two ago and they were very good speakers, now they can be picked up for £99, definitely worth a listen...as regards the other two pairs you list, unfortunately cannot comment on them.
