Guys, since being upgraded to max adsl, my downloads on my main pc which uses a usb 2 receciver seems stuck around 400 k ish, but on my lap top which uses a 54mbps card can go up to 800k.
I think the transfer speed of the usb 2 port is too slow, and if it was changed for a pci 54mbps card it would go as fast as the laptop.
Do you think I am correct?????

It wouldn't surprise me. I hate any form of USB networking equipment. USB connections are notoriously resource hungry, and I should imagine very much so for a wireless card. They are much simpler but usually when USB meets networking it has been designed for the average consumer who wants little hassle and doesn't ever open their PC so often are cheaper devices on cheap chipsets etc. Of course this is not necessarily the case with PCMCIA cards as on laptops but true for desktops.

Anyway, I'm rambling - I think that a PCI card would most likely increase throughput.
