Am going to be moving into my student house soon and have put in charge of sorting out the broadband. All I'm looking for is something that is reliable and won't drop connection often, as BT has started to, at least 2Mb, unlimited downloads and just as cheap as possible. Any suggestions?

That link didnt seem to work, at least not for me.

I can highly recommend Enta net resellers for normal 8Mb Max broadband, im currently with adsl24 and I have to say its one of the best ISP's I been with and I been with a few now.

be* or virgin cable (avoid virgin adsl) if you can get it. also maybe sky would be worth looking at if you have a sky tv package and are in a llu enabled area

if you're stuck with normal adsl then an entanet supplier is your only option if you want to download a lot. they have caps though. very generous though - 30gb peak / 300gb off peak for 19.99. plenty more packages available if you need more bandwidth. checkout ukfsn/adsl24/titan adsl/vivaciti/aquiss to name but 5. there are more.... :p

please avoid any isp who claims to offer "unlimited" adsl for 20-30 sheets a month. they offer no such thing. they're always subject to fair use policies and are very restrictive. usually off shore incompetent support too so stay away. :D

Have to echo this, I was with Zen for a very long time then switched to ADSL24. I had a big problem with dissconnects as soon as I was switched over but it was resolved within a couple of days. I would put there support on par with if not even better than Zen's. They also do unlimited 2mb packages if thats what your after, but with there huge off peak allowences on ADSL Max, I would consider all your choices as they have a big range of packages to choose from.

anyway was just a link to the search results of 'which isp' in N&IE as theres this same thread posted every day :p

again ADSL24 are excellent.

£20 notes gets you 8mb ADSL (assuming supported in your area), 30gb peak and 300gb offpeak which should keep 99% of people happy.

Never dropped a connection yet and very good techincal help team if needed.

Have I read it right, ADSL24 is a month by month contract which means you can cancel before a year is up?

yup that's right. but because it's month by month, you have to pay 47 quid connection and buy your own hardware. you just have to give 30 days notice to cancel. :)
