Tomorrow is pay day and the release of Halo3 so I am looking to buy a new LCD HDTV. My budget is about £300-£500 (more if really needed) and am looking for 26"+ the bigger the better! Also I will probably be buying an HD-DVD player but that might be a furture purchase and freeview would be a bonus. I'm not to sure about the technical side of HDTVs so if there is a reason for your recommendation over other TVs then explain it in dumbed down terms please! :D

Thanks in advance for all the help!

I'm a massive advocater of spending a little more on LCD's to get one of the branded sets, as LCD picture quality still isn't brilliant compared to the kind of image you get from a decent CRT or Plasma. Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic etc are making the best LCD's out there and they are within your budget if you want a 32" set.

These are probably the best sets that fall around your sort of budget...

If they're at the top end of your budget and you want to spend a bit less, you could either drop to the 26" models of those sets, or look at the Mirai and Hanspree 32" sets that are currently at the top of the 'budget' unbranded range of TV's.

The branded TV's are better specced (better black levels, shadow detail, picture processing, better input support etc) so it is better to spend a bit more in my opinion. That said, even the budget ones I mentioned will look decent with the 360.
