Greeting denizens of the RAM sub forum, I'm in the process of putting together my Ryzen build and had ordered the following kit:

Team Group Elite 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C16 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black
  • 2400MHz RAM Speed
  • CAS 16-16-16-36 Timings
  • 1.20-1.35v VDIMM
  • Lifetime Warranty with OcUK.

However going through a draw getting the bits I discovered I also have the following from a build that was never completed:

Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit - White
  • 3200MHz RAM Speed
  • CAS 16-18-18-36 Timings
  • 1.20-1.35v VDIMM
  • Lifetime Warranty with OcUK.

Am I correct in saying the Corsair kit is better than the TG kit? I'm pretty sure it is but don't fully understand the value of the secondary timings.

In simple terms yes, lower latency timings are preferable, but the corsair runs a lot faster, assuming your mother board supports memory that fast.

Just by looking at those DRAM specs side by side, the 3200Mhz kit is more ideal in terms of performance. If you look at the transition from DDR3 to DDR4, memory frequencies have increased but not so much on the latency side, they've remained the same.
