Hi Folks,

Looking for a 1000w PSU as a "future-proof" supply that will (eventually) power 2 ATi 5970s. Going into a Silverstone TJ07 case.

With regards cable lengths, sound levels etc any 1 of these better over the other, opinions appreciated. To me they both look very good quality PSUs with not much of a difference between them other than looks/warranty.

Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 1000w

Or the Corsair HX1000w

Thanks!

Having bought two Corsair modular PSUs so far, I can't fault them. They come with a good selection of cables. All other factors being equal, the Corsair is going to look better if your case has a side window!

I had a Corsair 520w then I changed to a Be Quiet 850w.

Both are excellent quiet PSU's that powered the system fine, however I prefer the Be Quiet, it looks nice and the cables are fully braided, it also has fan control and a feature where it keeps the fans spinning for a few mins after shut down to help disperse the heat from the system.

i have had Be Quiet for a while and it the best psu i ever had! so my vote goes to Be Quiet!

I personally think the Be Quiet! PSU's look nicer than the Corsair ones.

I have the 850w Be Quiet! and it's an excellent unit, if I were choosing between these 2, I would definitely go for the Be Quiet PSU as it is normal ATX size, whereas the Corsair is somewhat larger..

Buying an oversized PSU is a bad idea. They run most efficiently when operating at or near capacity and all you'll do is dump heat.

Also bear in mind that the Corsair HX1000 is not made by the same people who make the HX520 and HX620 and it's quite a noisy unit (it has 2 fans in it and they both run pretty much all the time).

That used to be the case, but modern supplies have a fairly consistent efficiency between 20-100%, usually peaking around 55%

^^Thanks :P, £50 goes along way in the current climate ;)
Back on topic though the TX950w looks very good for its price and if you dont mind fiddling with the cables then you should be fine plus with a large tj07 you wont find it a problem to hide them somewhere.
