Which plugs go where on the Creative X-fi?

Hi folks,

I've just installed a X-Fi Extreme Music card in my PC, and have gone to hook up my ageing Creative Inspire T7700 7.1 speaker setup.

However the instructions are somewhat confusing about which cable goes where.

On the back of my subwoofer, I have 4 outputs going to 3 cables

1) Black + Grey = Rear/Side
2) Orange = Center/Subwoofer
3) Green = Front

The help file that came with the card suggests that the 3 cables should go

1) Front Center, Subwoofer and Side Left
2) Rear Left, Rear Right and Side Right
3) Front Left and Front Right

I've tried plugging them in in various orders but the sound comes out of the wrong speakers, or in some cases not at all.

Does anyone know if its possible to use this speaker set with this card or do I need some more modern speakers?

What order do people have their cables plugged in to the card?

cant you just move the cables around until they come out the right place? using your ears to tell you if tis right or not

Well the black one deffo goes in the middle and as im colourblind i just swap the other two over if need be, you can check they in the right sockets by doing the speaker test. There was thread about this the other day

Sort of obvious, but keep the volume turned down whilst you swap your plugs/cables around - otherwise you can destroy a driver in milliseconds with no second chance...;)

They removed this look in the Vistas THX APP, this is XP version.
