Which PSU of these two?

Sorry for jumping in, but my Corsair 750w PSU has just gone pop. Luckily the PC was not on.

5870 / 965BE @ 3.7 / 2 x SSD / 2 x hard drives / sound card / optical drive.

How much wattage do I need? Looking at the XFX 550w if it is enough.

Corsair are good but you might as well go with the Seasonic ones since they make the Corsair ones and now have a brand new range ( G series and X series out)

I did a bit of digging and found out my awesome Corsair HX 620 was indeed made by Seasonic - but a lot of Corsairs are made by Channel Wells by the looks of it.

If my PSU is anything to go by I would not hesitate to buy a decent Seasonic PSU, so thanks for the heads up on that.

Also, I don't know how up to date it is as I have been out of the loop for a while, but I found THIS site that tells you who makes various PSU's. Pretty handy as a quick reference guide.

Cheers

Yep -I'm aware that all three are Seasonic based, but aren't the XFX & corsair made to their specifications?

They are normally based on a Seasonic OEM design with minor component alterations.

For example my AX850 is practically the same as the Seasonic X-Series 850w.

I'm pretty sure back the day the HX 650 had a Seasonic branded brother on the market. I've had a HX650 in my work PC for the last 3 year, so far so good.
