Which is best?
I have been asked this question in respect of a Gigabyte Z77

G-Skill 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 2133MHz RipjawsZ X79 Memory Kit CL9 1.65V
CL9
S Latency 9-11-10-28-2N

Or
Corsair
CMZ16GX3M4X2133C11R

CL latency11

- 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 for Intel quad channel platforms.
- 2133MHz with headroom to allow overclocking
- 1.5V
- 11-11-11-27 latency
Many thanks

I'm sure you're aware that 4 sticks of RAM will run as 2 pairs in dual channel mode and not quad channel.

My answer would probably be neither of those you listed.

The G-Skill is £143.99 and the Corsair is £161.99.

£94.00 gets you this:

Samsung Green 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz 30nm Dual/Quad Channel Kit

Faster than 1600MHz with Sandy Bridge (and I assume it'll be the same with Ivy Bridge) doesn't produce a whole lot of extra overall performance.

You should get a decent overclock out of the Samsung RAM if you want to try faster speeds.

If ultimately it doesn't produce much extra performance you haven't paid too much more than bog standard 1600MHz and a lot less than 2133MHz.

IIRC I read somewhere that memory scales better with IB, than SB? So you'll be able to push it further with a IB/Z77 setup.

It doesn't really matter what the speed is unless it produces an overall performance increase.

Faster than 1600MHz with Sandy Bridge is notable for only giving small overall gains in performance.

Perhaps 8 pack can answer that for us:

The GSkill works very well on the Z77 board I have. ASUS M5G. Clocks high too especially on Ivy.

Yes the IMC is strong on Ivy the self same sticks do scale better with a strong IMC much better infact. I will show you guys how well as soon as NDA expires. I am sure those Samsungs do clock well as you guys have shown on X79 I have no experience with them though so cant comment. Z68 was not a great platform for high CPU clocks and high mem clocks with full dimm population with 16gb. Z77 changes this.

Well thanks for the input. But which will it be, the £95 Green or the Skill. I have read a few reviews on the Samsung Green and they appear positive. I still have till around the 29th of the Month to decide (cpu's eta)
