Right after all your successful advice in the la senza thread this time im after advice on wine.

I am after a really nice red. i dont want to break the bank buying one, but something like the Oyster Bay Melot. That wine i really really like. and so does my gf's parents so im after something like it but better for them for xmas.

im looking through majestic at the moment and keep getting drawn to the oyster bay lol

well i was interested in the chateauneuf du pape but dont really want to spend £26 on it

so lets say between £10 - £20 we've all agreed to spend only a £10 but im rubbish at sticking to things :(

Any Stellenbosch Red - great red wines :)

Really? I found them to be ok, but a little rough around the edges. I spent a week in Stellenbosch and around last year and eventually decided against shipping anything back.

I like thier Viogners, and Mrs Asprilla thought the Cab Savs were alright. I know a few people who are / were taster guides at variours vineyards out there so I managed to get a personalised tour.

My advice would be to find an Indy wine merchant (or a laithwaits if there is one near you) since they are generally happy to give advice for the perfect bottle.

I've just come back from SA myself, and spent a couple of days in that region - I sell a couple of Stellenbosch reds in my pub so it was interesting to visit the vineyards they came from. They sell very well, and IMO travel very well too, to me they're always very fresh tasting. Then again I have quite specific tastes in wine :)
