Which Sci-Fi series

What's the general opinion of Andromeda? I never really got into it but saw a few episodes and thought it looked OK. Struck me as the sort of thing you'd need to be in from the beginning though - quite a lot of lore I thought.

Low budget cheese. The technology and universe is pretty cool, it's very far future. The writing, acting and cheapness of it all set it back though. It has hot ladies, lasers and space ships which might keep you interested.

Season 1 is alright, if a little inconsistent and starts to build up a pretty nice universe, mid point of season 2 that myth arc gets jettisoned in favour of setting up a universe where only Dylan Hunt can save the day from new and only semi logical threats, and it's best character gets written into the ground to the point where the actor quits lest the character be devalued any further.

Oh and additionally to the Babylon 5 point somebody raised about sticking with it through season 1, I'd emphasise not only that but when you get to the end (of season 4, season 5 doesn't do anything for the myth arc, it was a last minute renewal after the main plot got rushed to completion in season 4) watch season 1 again, you'll get a lot more out of it spotting all the foreshadowing.

Watched 4 episodes of Firefly so far. Its pretty decent, so I think I will get through these then onto Battlestar Galactica next.

Was Lexx on channel 5 ? I think I remember seen one of those. Very strange.

The majority of S5 is awful but the last 5 episodes are fantastic, make sure you watch those. I dare you not to have a tear in your eye at the end.

Loved those shows. Have the entire B5 set. On the other hand, didn't think a lot of Battlestar Galactica, although I watched the whole series. As with a lot of American shows, there's too much religious guff in it ... and I'm sorry, but Starbuck is NOT a woman! :P

she was much fitter than in the 80s... obviously a very well done sex change

A lot of recent sci fi stuff has been canned leaving them unfinished - very very annoying.

New V series
4400
The Event
Flash Forward
Terranova

etc etc

Kinda makes it hard to invest time in a series when you have that glaring thought there will be no ending.

4400 was canned but they managed to write a decent ending to it IMO. so dont let that put you off.... :)

anyone else find Falling Skies is annoyingly dark in terms of digi video and no light source.

i only get to watch them on a friday when im off and my son is asleep so its daytime and i struggle to make out what the **** is going on... i dont have this issue with anything else bar crappy divx if i miss an episode of something.

I did find this with the last episode at least but I found it I sat up a bit when viewed on my monitor it seemed better maybe viewing angle is playing a part in the darkness for you? Really looking forward to season 3 of dark skies. I have to admit this is the first series that I have had a genuine fear of the aliens.

Alphas is quite good, love Nina <3, if a bit fluffy though

Dunno if it could be called Sci fi but its techy - Person of Interest is another decent one and the Canadian Continuum series too

I think you might be right, but only saw a few episodes on it, have box set now
