Which single GPU is equivalent (or better) to SLI GTX460's??

I've been toying with the idea of upgrading my GPU and have been on the look-out for a cheapish 1GB GTX460 to run in SLI with my EVGA one but they seem to be quite expensive at around the £90-£100 mark and seem to be quite hard to get hold of in the MM.

My question is, what single GPU is around the same performance of SLI GTX460's? Because, if I can get roughly £100 for my 460, I might as well look at selling mine and getting something new myself with the same net result!

Thx guys....

Wow!!

£350+ is more than I thought it would be - I guess I'm definitely better off trying for a 2nd 460 off the MM given what I could get for mine!

hmmm.... my exact card is on offer this week! :p

Thanks....

Hmmm, read a few posts that suggest its not as straight forward as plug and play getting the anandtech performance out of SLI!?!?!

Anyone got any negative/positive experience of 460's in SLI??

whilst they may outperform a 580, ram usage will be limited to that of 1Gb compared to, I assume the 1.5Gb 580. The difference can mean turning AA up to ultra on crysis or BF3 with a 580 whereas the 460 will begin to struggle past 4x or 8x. Mind you most people notice little difference between 8x and 16x MSAA

Well 580gtx is terrible value, not far off 50% more in cost than a 570gtx, which will be, maybe 10% slower if both put to the same clock speed.

So you're not talking about £350 for a 580gtx, because that's daft, a £250 570 gtx will give you much the same performance and feel, for significantly less.

Then you've got AMD, a 6970 is more often closer to the 580 than the 570gtx at stock, and again is seriously cheaper than the 580, another far better option. Then you've got a 6950, which is better value than all the above options and very close to 570 performance, sometimes ahead, sometimes behind, and has decent overclocking headroom, and some can unlock.

But here's the real thing, new gen AMD cards out in december-Jan should push pricing down significantly. You'll be looking at cards between £200-300 that easily beat a 580gtx/460sli, and cards hopefully around £150-180 that match current 6970/580gtx. It will also likely push several Nvidia cards down in price and with people deciding to upgrade, there will probably end up with more 460gtx's, and 5850/5870/6950/6970's on the MM for great prices, as well as EOL pricing on new 6950/6970's that are left in stock.

Basically, your options become hugely better, either in performance, or price, if you wait a little over a month, maybe 2.
