Pretty much as the title says, which sites do you normally pre order from?

I believe various companys send things out earlier than others etc who has found this?

Please list factors due to chosing the specific site.

LOL the BF3 thread has loads of people saying my order have been shipped from **** etc, I'm one of them

You're allowed to mention companies as long as their main business isn't PC hardware.

Anyway, Shop.to. I've preordered maybe 15 games from them? One came on release day, the rest were 1 or 2 days early, simply superb.

Tesco. Got Gears 3 the weekend before, Fifa 12 the day before and they sent a 25% discount code with one of those orders so I got MW3 hardened for something like £55.

Probably easier to say which places to avoid:

Play, TheHut group (ASDA, The Hut and Zavvi) and Amazon (unless you pay for uprated delivery) off the top of my head...

Recently tried Tesco and theyve been good for pre-orders, got UC3 at Sainsburys so see how they go - heard recently that GAME have gone downhill (new courier or due to webby change?)

ShopTo here as well. Also I like the fact they attach a picture to the dispatch email showing your package. :) Just started to use ShopTo but the last 3 games have always come 1 day early.

It's usually a bit rubbish though as you can't unlock them until the release day. But yeah, ShopTo have been great for me. I always used to use Play, but found their prices were usually slightly higher and delivery was slower. :)

shopto
Game & Gamestation

are all usually a day early.

Gamestop UK are good too, I would have gotten Gears of War 3 on the Thursday before it came out if I choose the express delivery option, because they shipped it on the Wednesday. Even though I went with the free standard delivery (not First Class) I still received it on release day, even though it was sent out on the Wednesday.

Shopto

Only preordered 2 games, BF3 and Homefront, had Homefront the day before release date so was happy to preorder BF3 with them.

If I wanted games on release day I would go to a store.

I use pre-orders to get the best price possible.(Skyrim £31.47!)

If they come early or on release day then it's a bonus.

Nothing but good things from ShopTo. Always got my pre-order a day early and they normally do have good prices. But I couldn't pass up the Tesco vouchers going around to grab BF3 and MW3

Shopto are good if everything goes well. They always send the game out with plenty of time to make sure it arrives for release (more often than not, a day before release).

If something goes missing however, they expect you to wait the full 14 days before they send a replacement as opposed to a couple of other retailers that will send you a replacement out of good will.

Also, their forums are full of sycophants and the owner of the company is a bit of a numpty. Doesn't stop me shopping with them though as their pricing is more important than my opinion of their other customers/manager. Just don't try and become involved in their forum.

Shopto consistently get the game to people the quickest. Having said that they are now a couple of quid more than supermarkets and jersey based sites that often have codes to drop down the price.

Usually use Game and Gameplay, always a day or two early. Used Play with oblivion which was a day late. Going with Tesco Entertainment for Skyrim on pc (£22 :)) and Sainsburys for Uncharted 3 (£31). Hope both come no later than release day.

Still waiting for a deal on a Zelda bundle, will use game if nothing comes up. I don't use shopto after getting some dodgy bank account activity after ordering from them a few years ago.

For those that do use ShopTo, do most games they send require signing? Or is it through the letterbox?

Thanks.

Edit: Sorry for the mini thread derail.

I generally use Game simply for the reward card points and have never got a game late from them (usually it comes a day early)

My experience with shopto is they also generally get the game to you the day before release.

You can choose between the 2 options at checkout (1st class "through the letterbox" or recorded signed for).
