Which to keep Q6600 or E8400?

Well, I have upgraded my PC to a Q9550 from a Q6600.

My bro is running an E8400 at stock speed, will he see any benefits if I give him the Q6600 which can run easily at 3Ghz with stock voltage?

He is a web designer, so uses a lot of photoshop and flash stuff. But plays the occasional game or 2.

What will be the pros and cons if I give him the Q6600?

If it runs at the same clock, the pros are the 2 extra cores, extra 2MB cache, and the cons is... cost a little more on the leccy to run?


A Quad Core does wonders for use in web design and photoshop, so go ahead.

Yeah , heavy usage and the Quad is in its element. That is what they are optimized to be used for.
Gaming and simple tasks the E8400 runs just as well. Both fine chips.
