I'm planning on buying my triple channel ddr3 ram today and wondered if you guys had any suggestions about which kit to buy?

I've been looking at the following:

OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 PC3-10666C9 Low-Voltage Triple Channel Kit (3 X 2GB) - Great Deal at £66.99! - Also Overclocks very well according to Andy on a previous forum post..

Kingston HyperX 6GB (3 X 2GB) Intel XMP DDR3 12800C9 1600MHz Tri-Channel Kit - £85.99

OCZ Reaper 6GB (3 X 2GB) DDR3 PC3-14400 (1800MHz) Tri-Channel - £113.99

I've heard that 1333Mhz is all you need for i7, but would it be worth getting a 1600Mhz or 1800Mhz Kit?

I plan to overclock my i7 920 to 3.8Ghz+ on air, would i be able to make full use of 1600 / 1800Mhz speed kits with my Asus P6T Deluxe Mobo?

[I've already installed an ASUS P6T Deluxe, i7 920, Corsair TX850W, and Noctua NH-U12P into an Antec 900-2 Case. I am also planning to add in a GTX 295 when I can afford it.]

^

Just so you guys have an idea of the build - in case it would effect the choice of RAM.

Cheers!

I'm going down to overclockers to buy some parts today so help me decide on which kit would be best!

Hi m8.

If you are planning to OC - I'd go with the reaper or the OCZ Gold.

If you just want stupidly fast at stock, I'd go with the Kingston.

If you just want stupidly fast at stock with uber tight timings, I'd go with the Patriot.

Crikey, I've proper spoilt you lot for choice this week :D

Ask for me and I'll pop out to the counter ;)

Dont buy patriot RAM! It won't boot with all 6gb on my p6t deluxe. I tried getting help for the RAM from overclockers and mobo help from place I got mobo from, but no one could help :'(

Would Overclockers let me return it to get the Kingston RAM?

Please do not start screaming just because you've had a problem. I've sold 40+ sets of the Patriot in under a week and had none back yet. If there is a problem, post in out customer support forum and allow us to help you. Thats what we are here for:

The Patriot is OUTSTANDING RAM for the price, 1 duff set/ problem does not constitute a bad product.;)

mike,
Go with the OCZ, you will not be dissapointed. I have alway used OCZ for memory and have never had a problem in fact I have always been impressed.

I have [email protected] on air with coolermaster v8, 6gb of OCZ platinum 1600mhz. My timings are 7/7/7/24, and speed is like 1520mhz. you could go up to 1600mhz, but you would have to lower your multiplier and raise your bclk. Personally I have not missed the extra 80mhz over the 21xmulti. My ram gets warm, but never too hot to touch.

also this ram has posted with all kinds of timings and volts, so it is not tempermental. I think I run mine @1.6 and manu specs it at 1.65. I have ran it @1.5.
