Whinge: Are people so dumb they can't read

try putting a job advert on jobcentre and wait for the stupid replies. first line said MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE and the location. all i got was 20 calls a day from people who can't drive, and don't even know where the town is.
 
once had a tv on gumtree (item location northern ireland) and got a message from an "american couple" saying they where in london for a holiday and if I was willing to sell it to them for £15 less they would change their flights so they connected to Belfast airport on the way back to the states and pick the tele up then...naturaly I accepted and arranged to meet in a dark alleyway behind a strip club.

true story for the most part, either strange people or very imaginative con :confused:

Advertising a couple of bits for sale. I gave my location which clearly states Purley, South East but all I have are replies from North London, Essex etc etc. It also clearly states Collection Only and Cash on Collection in bold on the adverts. These numpties keep asking me to travel in to Central London or to services on a motorway to make the exchange etc.

Could be worse. I had some rip-off merchant offer me 150% of my item price whilst phoning from Hawaii asking if one of his "agents" could come and pick it up. Must be the dozenth of its kind I've had since listing it...

When you list your items you can block the item from being shown in all eBay locales you don't explicitly offer shipping to. Has solved that problem for me every time :)
 
If you don't ask you don't get. I have sold thousands of pounds worth of car parts to people in Europe even though advertising on UK sites. I have no issue.

If I see something I really like (especially on here lol), there is no harm in asking just in case even if they have stated collection only. A few more pounds may make the difference and worth the effort to the seller.
