Hey Guys, I'm wanting to drink something a bit more mature. I've never been one to drinks spirits unless they're used in a mixer. The first and last time I tried Jack Daniels was when i was about 17 and in the nightclub, my friend brought me a shot over, I did it. And felt instantly sick, didnt like it. I don't remember the drink, but i've never been able to order and drink it again since. I dont even know how Jack Daniels tastes to be honest.

I'm just wondering if you guys know of a Whisky\Bourbon, For "beginners" Something I can start drinking, and when i come accustomed to the way it tastes and the reaction of my throat\stomach, I can then move on to different ones.

This would actually interest me too, same JD experience really, but I used to love it, drank it all the time!

Then one night I over did it... Can't even stand the smell of whisky now.

Which is annoying cos my dad drinks it all the time.

JD is not bad, i can only drink it after a major session on beer tho

JD is a starter whisky, after you burn your tastebuds away on that stuff you can go out and appreciate the finer single malts.

This one? You could just have linked to it yourself. :p

I'd suggest something like Jura as being quite a neutral whisky, it's not overpowering in the way that some (like say Laphroaig) are. It's got a fair depth of flavour but doesn't taste too harsh and it tends to be reasonably cheap at around £21 a bottle which for a decent single malt isn't bad.

Same as me. Except i had some Laphroaig at christmas and it was actually pretty nice.

Jura was my first foray into the 'proper' whisky world. Sadly all that stuff isn't for me and it mostly ends up sharing a glass with Red Bull.

I can hear the gasps from the whisky lovers on the forum right now...

It's not for everyone I guess, I'm quite partial to it myself but I tend to suggest it as a relatively safe choice. Have you found one you like?

That bottle of Glenfiddich looks an interesting one, Found a bottle at £15 online. I know it's going to sound really daft, but i'd like to have the bottle on my breakfast bar, it would make me look mature and sophisticated when i have guests around.

I feel i should point out, that my breakfast bar has a section on 1 end where i put alcohol. it's not going on there, because i need a tipple in the morning :p
