Who as gone 3D then?

Not really any valid or interesting replies here. Those who has gone and bought one, would trump it out, whilst those who don't have it, would do the opposite. Go into your favourite electronic store and test test test. I mean, swot all annoying sales trolls away, sit down and get comfortable, stick the goggles on and really have a good think if you want to pay premium dollar for something like this. Although, 3D is coming down in price so it might be a nice 'option' to have if you can get a set cheap enough.

Personally, the Panasonic 2011 refresh is something I would keep an eye on.

I am deciding whether to get a 3D TV or not?

There's some cracking prices at the moment, £800 for the 'Samsung PS50C680 50" Full HD Plasma 3D TV'.

Are they really worth it though? I have never experienced a 3D TV in action and from some of the reviews i have been reading, people are saying they are just as good as cinema viewing.

What are your guys views on 3D TV's then? Worth it or not?

Will be used for Blurays and PS3 games.

Thanks

I went for that exact offer, chuffed to bits with the TV. My only criticism is the image retention, especially when watching 4:3 content or letterboxed widescreen content. I get really paranoid about people leaving static content on the screen, hopefully after 100hours it'll be minimised. I think you should go for it!

I'd like too but after having 3D vision which was entertaining for all of two minutes it gives me headaches and migraines + the cost is too high with a lack of media.

I am still debating whether HD TV gives me that much enhanced viewing pleasure. 3D TV, whilst a neat 'gimmick', for me currently, is not worth the investment. The only mainstream 3D media is Sky and I object to paying them one penny more than they already have off me.

For me I'd rather invest in a better surround sound system (move to 7.1 from 5.1) and a decent projector rather than 3D technology.

I guess at the end of the day, its all about your entertainment priorities.

Honest reply now, do you get any eye strain when viewing?

Well nicked my nana's big Renault Scenic and travelled to the sounds shop today in Sheffield hoping to view and buy the Samsung 3D TV. They had 1 left and it was reserved.....

Also had my eye on a other TV what was on there site. But they didn't stock that TV to the Sheffield store and i would have to pay delivery to get it.

Was kinda let down by the store to be fair, expected it to be a lot more from what i read on there site.

I have gone 3d with projector bluray and waiting the optoma 3dxl box in feb i cant wait , oh also went 3d with computer nvidia 3d vision :)) i think its the dogs danglies :)))

I would wait for an industry standard to form before taking the plunge, although that said several of the 3D TVs have the best 2D image quality on the market. At the moment there's a free for all with different proprietary tech, methods of delivery and all that.

Why are they "fail"? Very happy with mine.

You may be happy with it, but I could also be happy with my 30year old B&W tv. Doesn't mean we can't critisize it and the inherent failures of the tech ;)

Most aren't. There's quite a few plasma lovers still stuck in the past.

Unfortunately it's the new LED screen owners (edge lit lcd ;)) that think these screens are the coming of the mesiah when they really don't offer the picture quality that a good plasma does, especially the Kuro. Edge lit backlighting just plays on how thin it is but can't back it up with actually being uniform and of course cannot do local dimming.

Domestic 3D has a long way to go because of the lack in quality titles and content.

Anything other than the big plasmas (50 inch+) lack the contrast and picture size to give a meaningful and convincing depth of field.

The projector space is even worse, unless you're paying big bucks.

My self not yet, im waiting to see how it goes this year, with all the new sets being anounced at ces with smaller sizes as well, Panasonic will be doind 32 and 37 led 3D's, Lg have said they will stop shutter active this year and use passive with a new screen filter.

Toshiba have gone one better and have 55 and 65'' 3D telly without glasses, and samsung have some awesome looking led's coming.

I would still 100% go for plasma, as Led/Lcd just cant do 3D anywhere near as good.

To be honest if your doi 3d stop looking a tv and go projector a 500£ projector will give you a 100inch screen easy and thats how you get a great 3 d effect that a 40 inch tv will never give you and with the new optoma 3dxl box comming in febuary it will accept all the 3d tech and convert them to one the projector can use :)

How would 3D work with a projector? Could you use a PS3 on one for both games and 3D blurays? What about my MBP, could that do 3D when hooked up to a 3D projector? And what about my surround sound could you plug that into it?

Think I would still prefer to go tv route as it is a lot more easy and no hassle.

Went to America and saw terminator at universal studios and it completely blew away any film which was in the cinemas which was in 3D, the 3D they had in terminator was breath taking! I watched Tron in 3D recently and I couldn't really see a whole lot of difference. seemed a bit weak lol so I cant imagine how bad it is on an a lot smaller screen. I honestly think it wont last...

With £100 a pair glasses, they can get stuffed. Especially with how filmsy they are.

Also, what do I do when I have not got my contacts in?

I have been around a factory with glasses on plus safety goggles over the top, very uncomfortable!

imo: Get yourself a decent LED or Plasma 1080p TV with frreeview HD.
