Who as gone 3D then?

Bought a Panasonic 50" 3D TV and it is awsome, not just in 3D but 2D also. For me there in no comparison to watching Avatar in 3D in the cinema along side watching it on this TV. For starters in the cinema its passive 3D glasses and not Active 3D, and there is a big difference in viewing. Plasma is without doubt still the best picture over LED for now. I don't suppose 3D will take off properly until prices for TV sets fall. That will take time but like anything electrical they will come down.

I brought a Samsung C750 just for the 2d performance, while the 3D option was an added bonus. I've watched a few 3D movies on it (Avatar, Ice Age 3, Cloudy Meatballs, Alice in Wonderland) and quite a few of them were great to watch - so much though that my missus and in-laws were impressed. 3D isn't going to take off overnight (or for many years) as it's the same as when HD first came out, as in content wise was lacking.

I remember my first LCD TV - cost me over £1700 for a 32" JVC but now you can get a Full HD, 3D, Media playing, App full TV for less than £700.

3D will get much better over the next 1-3 years and it will take off - though I don't think Eastenders will be in the 3D though ;)

With the 3dxl box comming out yes you can connect everything to the projector sky ps3 pc blu ray

Have you got a link for that, all I can find is this but that's just an adaptor and still requires another projector. Also it only outputs at 720p.

Personally I was getting tempted by the 42" Panasonic G20 plasma, but with all the talk of new tech at ces, I feel like I should wait and see, as it sound like all the technologies on offer have draw backs.

Active shutter glasses have cross talk issues, lcd more so than plasma.
Glassesless, limited viewing angles and resolution is halved.
Passive glasses have reduced brightness due to filers on the tv and the polarised glasses.

What to do?

Good choice in telly its a shame its already been discontinued , Avatar on BluRay3D blows the cinema version out of the water due to it being in full Hd3D, the shrek series is also really good.

Yip thats the convertor box you need a projector as well yes all the box does is make sure the projector can show all the stuff

That 3D-XL box is excellent since 3D projectors cost a staggering amount last time I checked and it'd look ace since you'd be seeing it on a massive screen. If I was going 3D now that'd be my first option.

I think in terms of TVs you're not going to have much choice, they will gradually replace pure 2D sets with 3D capable ones, not that it's a bad thing since picture quality is the primary reason to purchase a particular TV and most of the best ones out at the moment can all do 3D. Whether you actually USE the 3D will be the question, and like you're I'm not convinced until the method of delivery doesn't require cheap plastic image-dimming/expensive flickery glasses.

Well i rang RicherSounds up today. Really, this shop can't be bothered about sales.....

Convo went like this:

Me: "Hello, im just wondering if you have had any Samsung c680 come back in stock?"
RS: "Nope"
me: "Will you be getting anymore?"
RS: "Nope"
me: "What about the LG PK590, have you had any come in yet?"
RS: "Nope"
*Pause*
me: "Well when will you be getting some in?"
RS: "Dunno"
me: "Ok, ill leave it"

That is exactly how the convo went, i couldn't believe it.

Looks like ill be having a good search on internet tonight. Would like either the Samsung c680 3D tv if i can find it as cheap or the LG PK590.

Was looking into projectors last night but think it is to much hassle.

Me!

I've got 3 x 3D TV's, a couple of Samsung's in my Kitchen and main Bedroom and one of Panasonics finest in my TV room.

wow ^ you must feel cutting edge ;)

btw the new screen tech looks good without the need for glasses. 64 positions but this will improve

im convinced a refined version of this will be the near future, people just dont want the glasses method.

dont buy current 3d tech other than for 120hz genuine pc input on a monitor imo

slightly off topic but relevant...

who has gone 3d but wears glasses normally? How does that work?

this is a bit of an issue, since I wear glasses, but cant see how to watch or buy a 3dtv that requires the use of "3d glasses".

I dont wear normal glasses but the 3D glasses are designed to fit over normal glasses.

Not sure how well this works, but if you pop into one of your local high street stores, they usually have demo units with the glasses on a stand so you can try for yourself.

Well after all fuss i ended up just getting a LG PK590.

Will wait till 3D is more mainstream, when everyone is talking about it. Just hope that lil gadget thing inside me doesn't start booting me for not going 3D.
