I've already said Saturday. 3 years a go was Sunday 10th May 2009 so the day before that was Friday 9th May.

Probably one of those stupid things with no answer and the OP just wants to see how long he can keep us going for using the offer of "free stuff" to keep it up.
I'm pretty good at riddles and there is no literal way you can interpret the question as being anything other than being the 9th May 2009 (Saturday). There's no duality of meaning or anything that could make it anything else.

Well depends on the definition of a year, but it's still quite flimsy.
I don't think even the most flimsy definition of 'a year ago' could possibly be argued to be 'a few months ago because that's when the number changed'
'last year' maybe, but not 'a year ago', or in this case '3 years ago'...
