Keane?:D

This. Moyes shouldn't (and wont) be anywhere near the list of candidates. When Fergie does retire we'll have our pick of managers, why on earth would we say nah we dont want any of them we want David Moyes :o

Depending on the time scale of SAF's retirement, the two most popular replacements may well not be available (Pep and Jose) - even if there is enough $$$ in the coffers to tempt Jose which is debatable at the moment (if it happens in the next 24 months or so).

Hangtime said it very well, Moyes may well not be the obvious high-profile choice, but his record at Everton is beyond reproach.

On the other hand it could be a poisoned chalice for all the big names to be straight after SAF anyway (especially if SAF is still around the club on a day to day basis in A N Other capacity).

Moyes would be a disaster.

I also think United will lose out on their first choice replacement due to Fergusons refusal to retire and the board not having the bottle to say thanks but no thanks to another year on his contract.

SAF is apparently in New York today to talk to Pep Guardiola about taking over from him.

He's definitely there (has been pictured), but whether it's to talk to Pep is another matter. The main site reporting it seems to be: http://www.mundodeportivo.com/

It was widely reported that Pep was living in New York to perfect his English, too.

Whoever takes that job is on a hiding to nothing. For a number of reasons.

It'll be someone with a massive ego or someone who who's happy to take a hit and walk off with a pay-off.

Guardiola isn't either of those. Mourinho ticks the first box but I think self-preservation might get the better of his ego for once.

Mourinho is a perfect fit for uniteds style.

Ideally a Roy Hodgson appointment to set them back to our mid-table level

Nobody wants Mark Hughes?

He's the ideal **** to take a beating and be sacked for not being Fergie. Then employ somebody who is good for the long term.

Ole would be a good option imo.

He doesnt deserve the grief the next manager would undoubtedly get imo, too much of a nice guy and maybe a little too inexperienced just yet (unless he would accept a position alongside / just under the new manager for a little while)
