Who else used Facebook and didn't see the point of it?

It's just progression, times change, technology changes.

People would have phoned around, texted etc... beforehand, all costing money.

Now all you do is create an invite, add everyone, send, job done, free.

It's not a reliance, but it makes it so incredibly easy.
Of course we could go back to texting or before than email or before that phoning, before that asking in person.
as humans we nearly always use the simplest method.

Don't talk soft. 10 years ago you'd have really'd the idea that you needed a mobile to socialise, but I doubt you'd even think of such a response nowadays.

I use Facebook a lot, to keep in touch with people all over the country. I've heard it described as whitelisted e-mail, and I think that's a pretty accurate assessment of why it's so useful.

I used the service regularly but found I was spending more time on it that I ought to have been so I closed my account. I'm really glad they added the permanent delete option otherwise it wouldn't have been long until I returned.

I just wouldn't have thought FB would have been adopted so quickly, that is all.

And saying it's sad, I don't mean in the sense of being a saddo, dunno how to explain it really.

I tried Facebook from when it launched up until about 6 months ago when I proper deleted my account and everything related with it.

It just became an annoyance with all the groups and worthless messages and status updates and pointless time wasting of it all.

Now I'm back to just using email and phone calls/messaging.

Meh, I just find it genuienly useful, I don't spend masses amount of times on it though like some people, I use it more objectively ie. check events, messages, leave someone a wall post etc. Either that or stalking a girl that went to my old school that is currently a page 3 model ;) Mmmm... nom nom nom

Considered using it for a few seconds, went to it, changed my mind. It's a bit too bandwagonish nowadays, people do it just to "fit in" and most of it is just people banging on about what they had for their last meal.

Same for twitter, I don't bother with that =)

Isn't facebook still used as the tool of choice by those who have been recently dumped but still have the alarming need to read what their ex is doing (I mean boffing, not doing, I suppose)?

Does it have any other purpose?

Facebook is essentially a forum, but with extra features and people you know (at least remotely), rather than being comprised mainly of strangers.

And those complaining about pointless updates and game spam... get better friends.

You can't blame the website for the stupid actions of your friends.

Finding pics of women you know on holiday in bikinis.

Or at least that's what I've heard.
