I've been thinking about getting this. £60 fir 2 years doesn't seem to bad really, and the cover looks pretty good.

Anyone else got / going to get this?

I dont think ill bother,

Way i see things like this is , If its lasts the 1st year there is a good chance it will last another 2 IMHO

Your right, everything electrical has a curve of failure. Things are likely to go wrong at the start and the end of the curve, you would be unlucky for something to go wrong if it had been working okay for a year.

Wish i had gone for it now, specially as me mates died after 15 mins of running luckily game swopped it for another one.

I left it too late it says its a limited time thing 10 days, well out of that now had it 3 weeks.

but why would u want to waste your money?

u do know that extended warranties are 99% pure margin, hence why salesmen so often try and push them onto unwitting customers trying to scare and bully them into making up the margin on the sale...

I sent back the slip with my CC details on the 7th of December last year. I've not heard anything since nor has there been any charge on my account. I've been meaning to call them up and find out what happened but I keep forgetting.

I think that with the current hardware revision, there is the potential that something may just pop when you least expect it. I would rather have another 2 years of Microsoft's support whereby I should get it replaced within 72hrs as they do so now.

Nope, haven't bothered. Only thing i've ever bought an extended warrenty on was my MP3 player as it covered accidental damage for three years. I think it might accidently get damaged in two years time :o

As for the 360 if it goes pop after the first year then i'll probably just get a PS3, might be glad of the change by then anyway.

Nah i didnt bother, aslong as it last long over the year. even if it is just over the year i will argue the point with hmv. Dont they do like refurbed ones if yours is borked for cheap with the original xbox?
Also in a years time it is bound to be a lot cheaper, and i would only need to buy a core anyways, since i could transfer the HDD, controller cables etc over to a replacement. i think you might even be able to pick one of them up for under 150 quid in a year or so. EVen cheaper for a 2nd hand one on the bay. Even if it comes to it and i need to wait a while to get a decent deal, i will have my PC and PS3 to keep me entertained, so at least i wont get bored :p

I dont know if this is true but today when i got mine at pc world the sales man said "you better get the warrenty as microsoft only give you 3 months"

Is he talking bull? I Though everything you get has to be one year by law or somthing!

The US only has a 90 day warranty on the 360, the UK is 12 months as standard. Inside the box the leaflet is mixed together and mentions the deal in $ for the US but the actual form that you sign and send back states 2 addtional years for £59.49.

While you are right for the vast majority, especially with electronic goods, sometimes it IS worth it. The number of times people haven't taken a similar think out in my line of work and it's cost them a few hundred notes for the sake of saving 20 is silly.

i wouldnt bother, unless you like being ripped off, like it has been stated already in this thread that extended warranties are 100% pure margin.
