Now i used to think it was traffic joining the slip road, until i heard that this was changed now traffic on the carriageway has right of way.

Partly i think due to increased traffic, so you're more likely to have someone on the outside blocking you anyway.

So i think the latter, he thinks the former.

Who is right?
 
Of course traffic on the carriageway has right of way. It's common courtesy to give way to traffic joining a motorway/carriageway to avoid potentially dangerous situations, but it's not law.

What he said. Cars joining from a slip road have never had priority (unless we're talking +20 years ago).
 
Of course traffic on the carriageway has right of way, any road that joins another road from a junction has to conceed the right of way.

They even help you on the carriage way by terminating the slip road in giveway markings on the road.
 
As far as I know it has always been traffic on the carriageway that has right of way. It's just common sense.
 
Well i did take my test 20 years ago, so it was different back then?

Hah oh well one can but hope ;)

Perhaps my instructor left a lot to be desired, this guy at work who is btw a good bit older than me swore blind it was the joining traffic that had right of way.

I won't bother saying as he is an arrogant, self assured plank.

I just needed to know if i was right. ;)
 
You could always disable your limiter ;)

I forget which fuse it's linked to, headlights or indicators...

Indicators & ABS on mine, not that I have ever pulled them.

On the Scania 3 series, the speed limiter shared its fuse with the fuel heater - which you don't need in the UK 99% of the time - ahh! those were the days...... ;)

I took my test 28+ years ago, the traffic on the carriageway has always had priority over traffic joining from the slip road, of course, with correct use of both the 2 second rule and using the slip road to gain an appropriate speed (whilst observing for a gap) this should never be an issue anyway.

Like Fox said, unbelievable!
