Who has used KNOPPIX?

I was just wondering if anyone has used KNOPPIX at all?
(I should imagine so)

Im just d/l it now + was wondering if its any good?

How long does it take to boot etc?

Is it usable?

How complex is it? etc, etc

Knoppix is great, its pretty much like a Linux system except you have no hard disk. I use it for sorting out other peoples machines when they are b0rked, as you can boot it up, (takes around 1 min) and then sort things out.

There is also a GUI available on it, its widely recognised as one of the best Linuxes on a CD

hell yes, Knoppix is great. It has tonnes of software, enough for anyone who wants to see what running Linux is like, and whether some piece of hardware will work on thier machine.

Yeah this was one of the main uses I thought of. So many times a quick os boot w/o install would be useful for faultfinding etc.

Just thought that I would give it a look + if its any good, keep it for such occasions.

If you only want it as a rescue disk for other systems, look at Linuxcare...
