Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

Anyone have much experience with powerflex bushes? Would like to know if they are worth the price.

Handling is better but they make the ride appreciably harder! Would not bother if its just a road car. For track use... yes. I had the full powerflex kit and it made it a lot harder than it was before.

Ok thanks. Think I'll put the money towards something else then. Feels ages since I put some sort of mod on my car.

300mm Mondeo/ST170 setup ready to go on my Fez this weekend :)
<snip>

I know our cars look identical but purely by coincidence (honest!) I've also decided to go down the ST170 brake route.

Where did you get the calipers from? They look to be in good condition if they were bought 2nd hand. I'm paying £160 posted for a 2nd hand set (front & rear) of ST170 calipers and carriers for my setup.

I'm going with 300mm Mintex discs with ferodo DS2500 pads for the front. 280mm Mintex discs and pads at the rear.

Any other modified insurance companies worth trying?

I'm with Sky at the moment. Heard good things about greenlight who are a sponsor on STOC .

See your making friends on FFST too:p

I paid £38 for the calipers/carriers with a set of barely used pads included and cleaned/painted them up myself, discs then cost me about £40 IIRC. Did consider doing the rears but decided it wasn't worth it because the rear brakes do pretty much **** all, looks good but not worth it for braking performance, even people running big power supercharged ST's don't bother with the rears really.

Pic of mine fitted, fills the standard wheels nicely and looks sooooo much better, braking is great too. Best £100 ever :D

Was that £38 for both? Good price that.

I seen some sellers on ebay selling individual ST170 calipers & carriers for £45 each so I thought I'd offer someone selling a full set £40 for each which they accepted. They originally wanted £190 for the full set with discs (worn out cheap nasty looking ones). Feels like I've paid over the odds for mine now!

Ferodo pads are pricey and will be overkill for day to day road use but I do have plans to take mine out on a track one day.

No wonder the guy snapped my hand off when I offered £160. Them alone have cost me more then your whole setup :o Although it seemed a good price to offer when you consider this is for sale at £45 with £8.50 on top.

Maybe I should have just done a front upgrade and kept rear standard. Got the calipers and carriers for the rear now though so might as well go ahead with it.

edit: someone please tell me I haven't been ripped off here. Could be single ST170 calipers aren't worth anywhere near £45 on their own. Maybe should have just offered £100 for the lot. I've paid for them now anyway.

battery died on Tuesday which was my fault really. Instead of charging it up thought i'd get a new one since it's an original and the best part of 6 years old.

had a moment of insanity and bought this - http://www.driftworks.com/braille-racing-battery-15lb.html

Was worried about it not being 'enough' for a daily driver but so far touch wood it's fine. Infact the car actually starts better compared to the old battery.

Will pop back over to the guys at driftworks and get the mounting kit for it tomorrow which should also loose some more weight. Can't believe the difference in weight between the old and new batteries, so much lighter.

I'll post some pictures at the weekend when everything is mounted properly.

Clio rear camber spacers can be fitted to our rear beams with a bit of modification :) Currently running 1 degree of negative camber on the rear now.

Braille batteries are meant to be one of the best and should easily out last a 'regular' one. Plus it wont leak so I can finally mount it in the boot which is something i've wanted to do for ages :)

Just found a great little bit of kit, possibly the smallest oil catch tank ever!

Damn!! That's expensive!! I got a Bosch silver batt that was like £79, weighs a ton!!!

In other news I bought some r888s, but am still waiting on my last st170 carrier to do the rear upgrade... Front upgrade going well although the hammerite I put on the disc is bubbling off!!!

Indeed, the old one is stupidly heavy!

Camber adjustable top mounts are a go I think now that I've been told the turrets will be strong enough with the centre hole enlarged :)

Will order some in the next few months, probably after my Inlet arrives.

Im going to need some of these with my R888s i believe, because ill melt the outside edge without extra negative camber.
