Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

As he just said, if your box is going to go there no warning, just CRUNCH/BANG! The diff is crappy, has plastic parts, etc and it can go at any time. Take a look a few pages back at my post which shows what it looks like if it does decide to go :p The car had less than 20k on it at the time...

Don't worry about your clutch, they don't usually give issues. For reference my clutch is new - thanks to gearbox exploding as said - and the bite point is a bit higher than half way, which is normal for an ST (and all Fiestas) as they have a hydraulic clutch.

I definitely wouldn't polybush a road car again, done it with my Civic. The Fiesta with OEM bushes and coilies is WAY better to live with and quite comfy to me.

the dash display for 10 mins? Not ideal where I live things being lit up lol.

The dash staying lit up for 10minutes is a "feature" that cant be disabled :(

Ive not done a proper test but the polybushing hasnt effected the car too much. Ill go out later and test again :)

Cheers for the offer of sidestripes Will, think I am gonna leave it alone though :)

for some reason i used to get pulled over all the time in my ST.
removed the stripes and it never happened again. probably just happy coincidence but its there.

new car looks nice stormster,

i would probably go back to standard wheels if you can. looks much better than black imo

Stormster

Best thing you can do imo is buy a FiestaSTOC membership. £10 for the year, saved me an absolute fortune in group buys and guides to do things myself!

With regards to choosing an exhaust, I wrote a guide, at some length, about modifying the MK6 ST. You should be able to read it with a free account (might even be able to do it without an account at all)

Allo chaps!

Shaun mine runs 195/45 16's, grip and ride quality seems fine and they're a bit cheaper than 205's :) Ta guys for the info on the box's and how they go boom, makes more sense what I vaguely read about them going at random, if they do go at all of course.

I thought milltek made the mountune system? But on youtube at least they seem to sound a little different to me... not sure. Is mountune the only source for one brand new, think they're about 330 quid?

Bit annoying the dash staying lit up, always a bit wary of stuff like that being lit at night... I keep my eye on it though when I come in.

dbmzk1 I remember reading your post about your box going boom, bad times :( Did a replacement cost loads?

I have the standard wheels and brand spanking tyres too Rich but these little black ones have really grown on me, they're so nicely finished I'm reluctant to take them off just yet. I aren't usually one for black but I do like these :)

Good guide that Yarde, I read it when I did a bit of reading on there for buying tips and it was really helpful, nice work!! My car has a Fiestastoc.com small sticker in the top corner of the back window, I may consider having a paid membership if it pays off :)

I'm loving it though, not all that much slower than my Type R was and I'm loving how it drives to be fair! I'm a pretty steady driver now so it's quick enough, don't think I'm gonna chase much more power, just do the cat back then we'll see if I do more engine-wise next year, gonna book it into Area Motorsport who I used for my Civic for a full check up underneath and some servicing in august when I'm off for a week.

Could I replace the 195 tyres with 205? I know little about wheels :(

Yes 195s will fit no problems :)

195 or 205 is the width of the tyre in mm....

The second number is the profile, essentially the height of the sidewall as a percentage of total width....

This page will teach you pretty much everything about the numbers/letters on tyres:

:)

I believe its a specific Mountune spec that Milltek make for them, so they will be different in sound. I would say have a listen to mine at some point, but it will sound different due to cams, manifold etc, but you're more than welcome.

Very nice car you have there, really need to get mine lowered it looks great.

Yes, it cost loads! Had to get a second hand box from eBay and trust my luck there was nothing around at the time so paid a bit more than I probably should for one. Then the new clutch, seals, oil, bearings, etc all add up... Plus I decided to replace the diff with a Quaffe LSD rather than put the same type in that exploded, so that bumped the price by ~£600. Total cost was around £1,500 give or take and my uncle did it so labour costs were minimal.

Whats a good forum to use for advice on the ST?

I put my first post on the fiestastoc site and it got moved to technical straight away, problem being you have to be a paid member to now view said section. I asked a mod about it and was told tough, become a paid member - it's worth it. That is as may be but maybe I could make my own mind up on that instead of being forced into it? May well remove the little FiestaSTOC sticker the last chap put in the rear window! lol

While STOC gave me loads of advice, some great friends and some great deals 2008-2011, it's a shadow of its former self. The attitude on there is horrible at times. I mean I've done a LOT of stuff over the years so I generally can be very helpful, but when someone's owned a car for 2 weeks and tells old timers they are wrong about stuff etc it gets to the point where I just gave up... :(

I'd rate STOC above the rest, FFST is a good site but only has about 10 active members because loads of people had a hissy fit about nothing so left to start their own site.

As Overlag says, STOC has some horrible moments but what forum doesn't?

Couldn't believe the cheek of some owners when talking to you on there.

Community has really gone now.

Even more so they're cutting off so much of the site to non-members that it gives little incentive to purchase a sub.
