Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Not with the engine covers on. Altough it does depend on the exhaust system fitted (cats if any) and induction kit used. The std system is in no way deafening.

In general its a nice rumble at low revs that sounds better as you rev it harder.

With the window down the induction howl is nice too (inlet is in side pod).

With a good full system its sounds GREAT.

You can run with the engine covers off if you want to go deaf. Utterly mental! LOL:eek:

Awesome. So do you use yours as daily?

Oh yes! And every time i climb over the wide sill, slide into the deep Recaro buckets, turn the key, and hear the engine fire behind me...:D:D:D

Putting miles on a limited edition car is always questioned, but so is modding one! Its my car and i enjoy it every day. I have not bought it as an investment so resale is not a worry. You only live once, so enjoy it i say!:D

Isnt it pretty much the only one from the Mk2 range you haven't owned?! :)

True :)

I love the V6 styling Ive just not heard particularly good things about the driving experience and in terms of pace i don't think there's allot in one and a trophy. Looks wise there second to none though :D

I've seen a few now, maybe 4 or 5 at CS.net meets, and 2 in my local town driving around. Neither of them cared about me being in an RS.

I always feel like a right idiot when I thumbs up another RS owner only to find they're obviously not on ClioSport.net :p

The Answer ....

Don't thumbs up other Clio owners ;):p:D

That's a poor show. :( If i get a wave / thumbs up I always acknowledge it! :)

Rude not to TBH.:(

I adore the ph2 V6 but would never buy one, they are too expensive, barely any quicker than a 182 and worse handling. Massive amounts of understeer and then massive amounts of oversteer = flaming fire of tree death

True, but for me, the V6 serves just one purpose, to be a bit bonkers. Who cares if the handlings dodgy, who cares if its not much faster than its 2.0l counterparts, its a frigging V6 in the back of a tiny french hatchback! Its totally nuts, and likely the last of its kind. We will never ever see this kind of thing again. A V6 RWD small hatch built 'because they could'. That is why I love them!

Completely agree, its why i love them. But £12000-£14000 for a minty ph2..........

The Vee is perfectly easy to drive on the road as fast as is sensible in 99% of situations. And i don't drive like a saint!;)

On the limit it is a challenge. On track it needs respect. But that's part of the appeal. If you take a front engine FWD car and stick a much larger engine in the back driving the rear wheels compromises need to be made. Its a flawed diamond. It looks mad, sounds mad, and is properly quick. Renault should be applauded for creating such a monster halo model for the humble clio.

IMO FWD is ultimately too easy to drive and eventually boring. Similarly 4WD (without clever diffs) is ultimately too easy and thus boring. You need monster power to make either "interesting". RWD is where its at and mid engne is ideal.

I have owned and driven hard cars with all the above configurations and frankly RWD is easily the most fun. Likewise mid engined is best. In 5+ years of Vee ownership i have avoided all tree's and seen no flames or death. ;)

But everyone is entitled to their opinion and i'm not knocking anyones cars.:D

You have really really got to love the look to spend £12 - £14k on something which technically isn't very good :p Either that or you just need a lot of money ;)

That's a bargain price for a limited edition sports car that (if looked after) will not depreciate over the years. In future they will go up in value as they are low volume collectors cars. Remember they only made ~350 UK Mk2's.

Especially if you get one of the rare colours:

http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/heritage/cliov6/

Check out the Sales Data tab on that page. Imagine how much the Moonlight or Deep Bronze ones must be worth!

I know the owner of the deep bronze UK car quite well, and it has full leather so that list is wrong. But you are correct it is unique and put a value on that!

I believe the moolight was owned by an RUK employee. Not sure at the mo. Also a keeper! ;)

Mate from CS had a V6 in the same blue. Had no cats and a quicksilver exhaust, was very, very loud and sounded great.

He gave me a lift to a CS meet in Meadowhall last summer (been a CS member for longer than I've had a Clio) and the amount of attention the car got was unreal. We had some fun in the underground car park before the lot of us got turned away into Toys R Us.

Here's a pic of it
