Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Yeah took the manifold and fuel rail guard off. Was a bit of a pain but got there in the end and now know how to remove it when I change the plugs.

Just thought I would update on the insurance, first quotes where coming in at £1000+ (can't remember) rechecked things, change job description to a more accurate one and it dropped to £850.
I would say, for my circumstances, it's decent.

Changed it to parked on the road and add a woman (mother, sister, aunt, grandma) to the policy and see if it drops some more. Get the best quote you can and then try Greenlight and Adrian Flux.

Mum and dad are both already on, dad and I work in the same place, and I occasionally need to take a van home so might get him to drive it home.
Changed to a more fitting job description and it dropped to £750. Been told to add some business miles (I may occasionaly need to use it to transport kit instead of taking a van) and that has dropped it lower for some poeple.

I tried flux direct, and cheapest I could get was £850, weirdly adding parents increased it again.

"wouldnt bother spending that much on coilovers unless it ended purely a track car which it probably wouldnt due to lack of RWD!"

Reeeeeally???

Poor statement is poorly worded by myself :p

Ok.. Ummm...What I really mean to say is I would rather spend that kind of money(modifications) on a car that was RWD, as there is more potential to be had overall (imho).

Id like the 182 to become a track day car but in the back of mind the money you would need to spend to get it to a great standard would be better spent on something with a little more potential i guess.. (and the fact im itching to get behind the wheel of a rwd car to see what all the fuss is about)

Like i say.. maybe I should get it out onto a track day this summer sometime which will change my mind , but there are some things I want to make sure are perfect before I end up taking it out (general wear and tear) and considering its just hit 80,000 miles and my daily drive I wouldnt want it to fall to peices after giving it a good spanking :p

Mine is nearly at 140k and it gets a good spanking almost daily.

If it's for track days, who cares about potential? What matters is how much fun you're having vs. money spent, and here is where something like a 1*2 excels - it's cheap to buy, run and maintain, it handles and goes well enough.

Hang on? So you made that statement having not ever driven a RWD car....?

Lol, armchair experts.

http://twitpic.com/5136dn mine on eibach sportlines!

Looking good. Looking to get some Sportlines myself, then track the **** till she dies!

That looks good acctually Gustov, I never got the whole lowering thing. But that doesn't seem to bad, did you replace the shocks too?

Yes mate, replaced shocks too. Miltek exhaust in 5 weeks time. Then wait another Montgomery and get a custom steering wheel. Then perhaps get it re-mapped :D

RStuner is on the cards here too, but it can wait untill I start getting bored.

How much did it cost you all in Gustov? I presume you just went with OEM shocks?

Quick to jump on the armchair experts bandwagon!!

Did i mention that it was in "my opinion" and not as fact that a rwd car would have more potential than a fwd car for track purposes? Of course, I cant back that up with tests i've done myself but I think you'll have to agree that the clio will utlimately be limited be its speed in the straights. Of course you could rectify that by spending £2k on a new ECU and throttle boddies, or even £3k for a low pressure turbo kit (or £6k for the big boy) , but by the time you've spent that much money you might aswell have bought something better in the first place!

Don't get me wrong I love the clio , its great at what it does, goes round corners like a go kart but I think I'll always be itching for something a wee bit faster that I can go sideways in :D

You posted the statement in a Clio thread? What kind of response did you expect?

Nobody in here is going to pretend the Clio is better than something bigger an RWD, but for the money, it simply cannot be beaten. You can pick up tidy high mileage Phase1 172s for less than a grand now.

There is a few videos of slightly tickled Clios keeping up with some much quicker (on paper) cars on tracks. Clearly it is down to the driver most of the time, but the clio does hold itself very well on a track.

There was a video over on CS posted of a 350z following a 182 through some twisty mountain paths. Admittedly the 182 was being driven by a total hero and giving it pan fulls of beans. The 350z was dropping further and further back as he simply couldn't sling it in to courners like the 182 and there weren't many straights for him to catch up on.

I guess it depends on how you like to drive, sideways? or with one rear wheel off the floor?

Now I have access to an actual computer...

To think when I bought it, it looked like this :(

Not sure about shocks tbh lol, they phoned me and said they needed 'doing' and added on an hours labour

£125 for the springs

£169 for fitting + tracking (including VAT)

SS are you happy you got yours re-mapped and do you actually notice a difference in speed?

Are you sure they replaced them, looking around its 100 for the front shocks and 80ish for the rears.
