Who here owns a Renaultsport?

so.... after a year off the roads for DD40, a £500 fine, and retaking both tests  im finally back on the roads

anyways, the type r was way too expensive to insure. so i decided to trade it in for something a little more tame, and decided to get a twingo RS. ;) :p

hate it or like it, regardless, i thought i'd share it with you guys :)

I actually really like the Twingo RS. Its closer to what the original Williams and 172 Clio were all about than the rather lardy 200 Turbo.

It is a shame its an NA engine though. If they had dropped a turbo in it could have been easily tunable to almost 200bhp which would have been a right hoot.

Put my S2000 up for sale and on the hunt for a 1*2, looking to spend no more than 3k.

Always had a soft spot for them, like the looks and fun factor they have. Having owned mostly jap cars i'm used to pretty decent reliability and things working properly which brings me to my only real concern. Am I going to get fed up with lots of niggely things going wrong all the time? Do they really break that often?

Noticed there are quite a few early CTR's up for sale around my budget but fancy trying something different.

Are there any major differences in the 197 and 200? I'm thinking of trading my focus St for something with a bit of punch but better mpg.

If you read a bit further back this was already answered today.

I wouldn't be expecting particularly good MPG from the 197/200. With mixed driving I doubt you'd see low 30's.

Not really much difference between the 197/200. I think the 200 is the more rounded better car though.

There seems to be a massive divide in the community between the 197 and the 200. The 197 is labeled as being rubbish while the 200 is sublime. But from what I can tell, the differences are just some minor tweaks and a new bumper. The 197 is still a very good car.

Not worth it tbh. The minimal increase in MPG won't be noticeable...

If you are getting dire MPG in the ST, you are going to get dire MPG in the Clio

Like I said in the last post I also like the look of it and fancied one for a while. Is the mpg that bad? Also how tunable is the 200?

I think it's mainly down to the gearing. 6th is too short. Mine is an 07 car though. I understand the newer ones had a longer 6th for cruising.

Indeed they do. The extra weight (200kg over the 1*2 iirc) really doesn't help economy either.

And tuning wise, pretty much non-existent. Unless you want to spend thousands for a small extra. Its a highly strung N/A engine, not a tunable turbo ST.

Yeah and I would miss it. I was just toying with the idea as I really like the look of them but I would have liked it to be as tunable as the St, or at least somewhere near.

Awesome! Love the black spoiler, white car contrast.
