Who here owns a Renaultsport?

With Trophy wheels and belts done I want to say yes, but then these things are always dropping in price.

It's missing the front splitter so the only evidence of a Cup Styling pack is the spoiler. I'd ask for proof of the Cup Handling pack if he has any, or you could get under the front and measure the hub bolt spacing to be sure.

Its worth a look at least.

Bought a Y-reg 172 with <60k for 900 quid a couple of years ago. It was without doubt the MOST fun I have ever had in a car. Got ribbed for being a big bloke in a little car - but it was just too good behind the wheel! Shame I got rid of it... :(

Alexisonfire, a few questions about stripping the Clio, if you don't mind?

What did you do about the door handles and the wing mirror adjuster when you removed the door cards? Looking at the photos you have some sort of surround on the handles, but where did the mirror adjuster go?

What do you have on the floor in the drivers foot well? I was thinking of maybe attaching a floor mat with velcro? Or do you just keep the bare metal?

Anything I should be wary off when stripping? I hear the sound deadening stuff is a PITA to remove?

I had electric mirrors and did away with the wiring as i just adjust them manually (you can push the mirror and it clicks into place). Not to mention i think i've had to adjust my mirrors once since owning the car :p

Door handles are just the standard item. No extra surround, although you can buy them from renault sport racing for about £100 or something spastic :p

Floor is just bare metal.

Sound deadening is a piece of **** tbh, just messy. Get a wallpaper scraper a heat gun and crack on. Clean the remaining residue off with some rags and white spirit. The only annoying thing is the stupid clips renault use to keep things in place, i think i pretty much broke all of them :D

Did snetterton 300 yesterday, forgot how bloody awesome that track is. Car was epicly quick, and i can't believe the amount of difference sticking some camber on the rear has done.

Quick video, always nice to see 993 turbo move out the way because you're faster over a full lap :D Rest of the video is me chasing down a clio race car :)

How do these compare to a mk1 octavia vrs for example, would love one for a track car. Because i have a feeling my octavia would be a bit lardy on track compared to a 172 / 182

Quicker and a lot better through the corners. Perfect track weapon.

Thought I'd update with mine after a Summer prep. Looking shiny for now... Lovely weather to go out and enjoy it!

No competition really. The Clio is far superiors to the Octavia for track days.

There's a reason why every track day anywhere always includes a number of RS Clios.

Alexisonfire - did you ever run yours with the electric windows in but no door cards? What did you do with the window switches?

I've just posted this in the 3/4 cylinder exhaust thread, I thought I'd post it here as well. Milltek Exhaust and KTR induction kit.

Excuse the lame post but where did you lot get those Renault Sport stickers some of you have stuck on the bonnet?

I picked up my 182 last week and am loving it thus far, nice to be back in a fun little hatchback.

Right, I'm fedup with the rubbish brakes on my 182. Is there much to be had with changing the pads and discs? Or is 4pots the way to go?

You won't need 4 pots unless you are going 250bhp+

I'm running the following:

OEM discs all round
braided brake lines
super blue fluid
RC6 pads front, OEM pads rear

These are enough to absolutely rip your face off.

Road or track, Westyfield? As epic as alexisonfires setup is, its overkill on the road and will squeal like a little piggy.

OEM or Brembo disks, and decent pads plus a decent fluid like Super Blue will make a noticeable improvement over standard. No need to go anywhere near 4 pots.

Bremen disks, Ferrodo pads - all you need.

Got a few jobs to get done today:

Find out the source of an annoying squeak, think it's the exhaust
Find out the source of an annoying rattle by taking the dash out
Take out and clean the rain sensor
Any other jobs before taking it to 519 for a 36k service tomorrow!

I'm getting really tempted to go back to a Clio as the weeks go by... I'm a bit bored of my 225 at the moment and I'm missing the noise and handling of my 172. I keep looking out for a Monaco blue 172!
