who IS working this Christmas ?

Retail, yes.

Bit higher up the chain this time around though so managed to get myself the least bad days. I don't really mind though to be honest, at least this way it only uses up two holiday days and I can use them when I actually want holiday instead.

It's very easy to lie on the forms for cards which bear the supposedly verified PASS logo and get a different date of birth on them, they're also not very well known never mind how well the scheme tries to sell itself as the accepted everywhere ID.
So the management decide that to lessen the risk the only ID they will accept is driving licences and passports and at the end of the day we are there to carry out the managements wishes.

I see, I have an passport but it's out of date, I got it in 2001. Can I still use that?

Thanks

Nope, not working at all from the end of this month......

I have worked over Christmas and New Year in the past however...and No, I didn't like it.

Working night shift over Christmas again this year, but should have new year off. I hate working Christmas but it's part of the job I do, so I can't complain I guess. I knew my job would involve such hours when I took it...

Every day but Xmas day itself. No choice in the matter but at least i'll be getting time and a half. Thankfully my mum lives 30 mins away so I can rock down for her awesome mince pies.

Yes. I'll be sunning myself on an oil rig off the coast of Egypt this Christmas :p

Due back out there on the 5th December and not due back until 5th January. Suits me fine - I'm not a fan of Christmas and I get double time for Christmas and New Year (2 days for each - means an extra grand for the big lad :D).

Did oncall over the Christmas and New Year period for many years ... didn't really mind as there were hardly any users in and most things had a change freeze.

This year I'm off after the 22nd, back in 29-30th and then back in on the 3rd, (my colleague is off from the 23rd for two weeks and one of us is supposed to be in (our manager is covering the 28th) ... I don't mind as things are normally quite quiet and if I'm off for the whole period then I'l be expected to be a my parents being sociable... )

I'm not in the office but I am on call.

No one will be using the systems though so I'll just be covering batch runs - can't imagine I'll get called as they are pretty reliable.

who IS working this Christmas ?

The OP deliberately used capital letters to emphasise the word 'IS' in the thread title and, so far, 31 posts out of 75 are people saying they aren't working Christmas day - including 3 Dons :p

The people who are only off on Christmas day and working the rest can just about be excused but the rest of you have no business posting in this thread - clear off and gloat elsewhere ;)

Not me, finish this job on the 15th after our christmas party, have a christmas party for the new employer on the 16th then am off until the 3rd when I start my new job... so yea no work for me!

It's up to the staff on the door technically it's no longer valid ID but as long as you haven't changed massively from the photo and it is quite obviously you I wouldn't have a problem letting you in.
