Who just saw BBc Watchdog with Virgin media?

Apart from their YouTube caching (awful, awful idea - I don't tend to watch popular videos so I suffer at the hands of their caching servers) and occasional DNS screwups, VM are pretty good. I barely ever have service outages and the speed is consistent.

The argument about it being crap because it's not FTTP is rubbish... twisted pairs are capable of 1gbps. Think about it. Copper Coax is a solid, low cost medium.

Personally, I don't see any problem with the "youtube" cache, it's not only YouTube, it covers other things including google.co.uk, maps and images and it's still run by Google. It's a super efficient CDN for Google because they're hosting servers from within VM's own network. I get sub 9ms pings to Google services and they're always fast.
